Policy EH1 – IMPROVING WEST CHILTINGTON’S NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

Policy EH1 focuses on protecting and improving West Chiltington’s natural environment.

EH1 helps guide how the village changes over time. West Chiltington is valued for its rural character, green spaces, hedgerows, trees and wildlife habitats, and this policy helps ensure those features are properly considered when development is proposed. It supports the Parish Council’s Biodiversity and Environmental Policy, which commits the Council to having regard to the Neighbourhood Plan and, where reasonably practicable, conserving and enhancing biodiversity in the parish.

EH1 means planning proposals will be looked at with the environment in mind — not just how a scheme looks, but how it affects habitats, planting, wildlife and the wider village setting. It is about shaping change carefully so that West Chiltington remains a place with a strong rural identity and a healthy natural environment.
