Allotments

The allotments are owned by the Parish Council and are run by the Allotment Association. They are located by the crossroads, behind the car park, across the road from Nisa Stores and Post Office.

The allotments are well maintained and plot holders are friendly and helpful.  Plots leased are by those just starting out, to expert vegetable growers, to plots that have been in the same family for generations.

We have a communal area with fruit trees and benches for the holders use. Plot holders grow a mixture of vegetables, fruit and flowers and the plots are a haven for wildlife.

There are around 30 plots ranging from about 50-200 square meters, 125 square meters is about 5 rods which is the equivalent to half a historical allotment which  was 10 rods – enough to feed a family all year round. The plots average at around £20 each for the year, plus a grass cutting charge.

There is a short waiting list with most people waiting for 1-2 years or less for a plot, with tenancies running from April – March.  We normally hold our AGM in March.

If you are interested in a plot please email: allotments@wcpc.org.uk with a completed application form

To be eligible you must live in the Parish of West Chiltington, proof will be required by provision of photo ID and a recent utility bill, these are only required once a plot has become available and on signing the yearly tenancy agreement.
